3DSecure Push Notification Authentication

What is 3DSecure Push Notification Authentication?

3DSecure Push Notification Authentication is a new method of authenticating your purchases from 3rd party merchant websites, where you would receive a push notification instead of an SMS OTP. Just enable secure authentication on your Citi Mobile® App and allow push notifications to be received by the app. When you use your Citi credit card or Citibank debit card in a merchant website, you will receive a push notification which you need to tap and it will prompt you to authenticate with your biometric or password to complete your purchase.
How do I enable this feature for my merchant transactions?
You would need to have the Citi Mobile^® App installed on your smartphone, enable secure authentication, and allow push notifications to be received by the app.

Enabling secure authentication:
Login to your Citi Mobile^® App. If secure authentication is not yet enabled, it will show a prompt to enable it.

Tap on ‘Continue’ to authenticate via SMS OTP.

Enter the received SMS OTP in the input field and tap on next.

It should now display a success screen signifying that it is now enabled.

Allowing push notification to be received by the app:
For iOS/Apple users, you may go to your device’s “Settings > Citibank PH > Notifications > Allow Notifications Toggle”.

For Android users, you may go to your device’s “Settings > Apps > Citibank PH > Notifications > Notifications Toggle”.
Does this feature apply to both my credit and debit cards that I use in merchant websites?

Yes, this applies to purchases on merchant websites using your Citi credit card or Citibank debit card.
I did not receive a push notification for my recent merchant transaction and instead still got an SMS OTP. What might be wrong?

For you to receive a push notification for your merchant transaction, you would need to have the Citi Mobile® App installed on your smartphone and enable both secure authentication and push notifications.
I have opted not to allow push notifications for my Citi Mobile® App before. But with this feature I would like to enable it. How do I allow push notifications to be received by my Citi Mobile® App?

You may give permission to allow push notifications to be received by your Citi Mobile® App by following the below:
For iOS/Apple users, you may go to your device’s “Settings > Citibank PH > Notifications > Allow Notifications Toggle”.
For Android users, you may go to your device’s “Settings > Apps > Citibank PH > Notifications > Notifications Toggle”.
I accidentally dismissed the push notification. How do I proceed to authenticate my merchant transaction?

If the request is not yet expired, you may bring up the authentication request again by tapping on “Authorize Transactions” on the login screen of your Citi Mobile® App.
Can I still receive an SMS OTP instead to authenticate my merchant transaction?

Yes, on the merchant site, there will be a link there to request for an SMS OTP instead.
I received a push notification but I did not do any transaction or the details displayed are not the same as the transaction that I am making. What should I do?

If you received a push notification for a merchant transaction but did not do any transaction or the details displayed in the prompt are incorrect, please proceed to lock your Citi credit card in the manage card screen of the Citi Mobile® App to avoid further transactions and immediately call CitiPhone at 8995-9999 to report the concern.

About Push Notification
1. What is a Push Notification?

A Push Notification is a secure and convenient way of receiving the latest information and reminders regarding your banking and/or credit card account/s via your Citi Mobile^® App. Push Notifications pop up on your mobile device as long as you are connected to the Internet or a cellular mobile data network, even if you are travelling abroad, if something is wrong with your SIM card, or if you have changed your SIM card.

2. Do I have to pay for this service?

No, Push Notifications are free for all Citi clients.
Managing Push Notifications
1. How can I enable and choose which Push Notifications I am enrolled in?

To enable Push Notifications on the Citi Mobile^® App:
Log in to the Citi Mobile^® App.
Go to Profile & Settings.

Select Security & App and tap Alerts & Notifications.

Switch on the toggle for Enable Notifications.

Select the alerts you want to receive via Push Notifications and tap Save.

2. Do I need to enable Notifications on my device settings to receive Push Notifications?

Yes, you will also need to allow Notifications on your device settings to receive Push Notifications through your Citi Mobile® App.
To enable notifications on your device:
For iOS

Go to your device’s Settings menu.
Tap Notifications.

Go to Citibank PH and switch on the toggle for Allow Notifications.

For Android

Go to your device’s Settings menu.
Select Apps.

Go to Citibank PH.
Tap Notifications and select Show Notifications.

3. How do I disable Push Notifications?

To disable Push Notifications on the Citi Mobile^® App:
Log in to the Citi Mobile^® App.
Go to Profile & Settings.

Select Security & App and tap Alerts & Notifications.
Switch off the toggle for Enable Notifications.
Receiving Push Notifications
1. Can I choose which alerts I receive via e-mail, SMS, and/or Push Notification?

Yes, you may choose via which channel (Push Notification, SMS, and/or e-mail) you receive your Citi Alerts.

To choose the alerts you receive via SMS and E-mail:
Log in to Citibank Online^®.
Go to Services.

Click on Profile & Settings.

Go to Citi Alerts.

Select Manage Alerts.

To choose the alerts you receive via Push Notifications:

Log in to the Citi Mobile^® App.
Go to Profile & Settings.

Select Security & App and tap Alerts & Notifications.

Switch on the toggle for Enable Notifications.

Select the alerts you want to receive via Push Notifications and tap Save.

2. Will I still receive e-mail alerts if I enroll in Push Notifications?

Yes, you will still receive the e-mail alerts you are enrolled in even after enrolling in Push Notifications.

3. Will I still receive SMS alerts if I enroll to Push Notifications?

No, if you enroll in Push Notifications, you will no longer receive SMS alerts, unless you are not connected to the internet when the alert comes through.

4. Where will I see the alerts or messages that were sent to my mobile phone via Push Notifications?

You can find the messages sent to you via Push Notifications by logging in to the Citi Mobile^® App and tapping on the bell icon at the top right corner of your account summary screen.

5. How long will the alerts or messages be stored in my Citi Mobile^® App? How can I delete these messages?

Push Notifications will be retained in your Citi Mobile^® App and Citibank Online^® account for 30 calendar days after you receive them. You will not be able to delete any Push Notifications from your Citi Mobile^® App.

6. Will I still receive Push Notifications when I’m abroad?

Yes, you will still receive Push Notifications even if you are travelling overseas, as long as you have a connection to the Internet or a cellular mobile data network.

7. If I change my phone or device, how do I get Push Notifications on my new phone or device?

If you had previously enrolled to Push Notifications on your old device, you can continue getting Push Notifications on your new device by doing the following:
Delete the Citi Mobile^® App on your old phone.
Download the Citi Mobile^® App on your new phone.

Log in and enroll to Push Notifications.

8. Will I still be able to see my old Push Notifications even if I change my phone or device?

Yes, just log in to the Citi Mobile^® App on your new phone or device and enroll to Push Notifications. You will be able to see your Push Notifications from the last 30 days by clicking the bell icon at the top right corner of your account summary screen.

9. Why did I suddenly stop receiving Push Notifications?

You might suddenly stop receiving Push Notifications if:
Your mobile phone is not connected to the Internet or a cellular mobile data network;
You disabled Push Notifications in your Citi Mobile^® App;

Your Citi Mobile^® App is not updated with the latest version;
You deleted the Citi Mobile^® App from your mobile phone or device;
You downloaded Citi Mobile^® App and enrolled for Push Notifications on another device.

If you are still unable to receive Push Notifications, please call CitiPhone at (63) 2 89959999 (for Metro Manila) or 234 9999 (for Metro Cebu), and a CitiPhone officer will be available to assist you from 9AM to 8PM daily.

What are the security features of the Citi Mobile^® App?

Bank safely by logging in with Face ID^® / Touch ID^® / Fingerprint Authentication. Prevent unauthorized transactions by locking or unlocking your credit card anytime, anywhere.
I seem to have misplaced my credit card. How can I ensure that my credit card cannot be used while I'm searching for it?

You can lock your credit card anytime using Citi Mobile^® App to block any new, non-recurring charges to your card.

Just select the credit card you want to lock. Once you've found it, you can unlock it also through the Citi Mobile^® App.

Recurring transactions will continue to go through.
How do I report my concerns and issues?

What is Face ID^® / Touch ID^® / Fingerprint Authentication?

Face ID^® / Touch ID^® /Fingerprint Authentication are features that enable you to securely log in to the Citi Mobile^® App using the biometric capabilities of your Apple iPhone and Android device. These are login mechanism which are alternatives to Citi's User ID and Password.
What is Face ID^®?

Face ID^® is a feature that enables you to securely log in to the Citi Mobile^® App based on the Face ID data stored on an Apple iPhone X or newer. This is an alternative login mechanism.
How secure are Face ID^® / Touch ID^® / Fingerprint Authentication?

Your Face ID^® / Touch ID^® or fingerprint information is stored on your Apple or Android device's Secure Element. Once you enable the Face ID^® / Touch ID^®/ Fingerprint Authentication as a login method for your Citi Mobile^® App, an encrypted token is created that stored in Citi Mobile^® App and our Citi system. No login information is stored on the Citi Mobile^® App.
How long is my Face ID^® / Touch ID^®/ Fingerprint Authentication enrollment for Citi Mobile^® App valid?

Enrollment of Face ID^® / Touch ID^® / Fingerprint Authentication for Citi Mobile^® App is valid for 30 days. If you have not logged into the Citi Mobile® App by manually entering the password at least once every 180 days, Face ID^® / Touch ID^®/Fingerprint Authentication will be disabled for Citi Mobile^® App. This will not impact any other biometric login enrollment you have on your device.
Will the Face ID^® / Touch ID^®/ Fingerprint Authentication for Citi Mobile^® App be disabled once I change my mobile number?

Changing the mobile number will not disable the Face ID^® / Touch ID^®/ Fingerprint Authentication as long as the mobile phone, SIM card, and the service provider remain the same.
