Is the Global Wallet feature available for all transactions?
The feature is available for retail point-of-sale and ATM international transactions.
What happens if I have turned on Citibank Global Wallet and there is insufficient balance in my foreign currency account when making a transaction?
If there is no or insufficient balance in your foreign currency account, the transaction will be debited from the primary account linked to your Citibank Debit Mastercard. The transaction will be declined if you have insufficient funds in your primary account. Partial withdrawal or purchase is not available.
How can I confirm that my foreign currency account was successfully opened?
Your newly opened foreign currency account will already appear in your Citi Mobile® App's dashboard.
How do I fund my newly opened foreign currency account?
If you have a USD account, you may transfer funds through the Citi Mobile® App or Citibank Online. If client does not have any USD account, client may:
- Open a USD account through Citibank Global Wallet and deposit through our machines at Citibank ATM Centers.
- If the client does not like to open any USD account, client may visit the branch to perform funds transfer from local currency (PHP) subject to bank's FX requirements.

Citibank Global Wallet Terms and Conditions
Linkage
By turning on Citibank Global Wallet facility, you agree to link your international ATM, point-of-sale and online transactions to all your unique open and active foreign currency accounts. In case you open a unique foreign currency account through Citibank Global Wallet after you enroll to Citibank Global Wallet, it will automatically be enrolled to the facility which will subsequently be linked to your Citibank Debit Card for international ATM, point-of-sale and online transactions.
Should you have multiple accounts of the same currency, you will only be able to link one same currency account to Citibank Global Wallet.
Withdrawals and Purchases
This facility will automatically identify the currency of your transaction if you withdraw cash from an ATM internationally or make purchases at point-of-sale or online using your Citibank Debit Card and debit from the account of the same currency you are transacting. If you do not have any eligible account (e.g., account is not active, account has insufficient funds) of the same currency of your transaction, it will debit from your nominated primary account. In the event where your primary account is not eligible for the transaction, your transaction will be declined.
Access to Citibank Global Wallet
Citibank, N.A., Philippine Branch ("Citibank" or the "Bank") has the absolute discretion to make this facility available to you. We have the discretion from time to time to determine the scope of the facility, modify, restrict, withdraw, cancel or discontinue any or all of the services or this facility without notice and without giving any reason therefor. You understand that by using the facility after any modification has been effected, you have agreed to such modification. Citibank shall not be liable to you if you are unable to gain access to the facility.
Suspension and Termination
You must give the instruction to Citibank to cancel your Citibank Debit Card enrollment to Citibank Global Wallet in case you decide you no longer wish to avail of the facility.
Citibank may, at any time, for any cause, at its sole discretion, and without notice, suspend or terminate your ability to use the facility.
Opening of additional Foreign Currency Deposit account
This facility may allow you to open additional foreign currency deposit accounts. Should you open an additional foreign currency deposit account through Citibank Global Wallet, you confirm your understanding of the inherent cross-border risks that may arise from the maintenance and operation of such accounts. Cross-border risks are, but not limited to, risks taken by independent entities, governments, and the like, that may prevent the conversion of your local currency funds into non-local currency and/or the transfer of your funds outside of the country, thereby impacting your ability and that of Citibank to transact business across international borders. By opening a foreign currency deposit account, you hereby agree to keep Citibank, N.A. Philippine Branch free and harmless against any and all losses, damage or liability arising from such risks.
By opening a foreign currency deposit account, you agree that:
- Your existing information with Citibank including your address, source of funds and nature of work are current;
- You confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to, the following:
- Undertakings of the Account Holder Agreement at
- General Terms and Conditions governing Citibank, N.A. Philippine Branch accounts at
- Debit Card Terms and Conditions at www.citibank.com.ph/debitcardtc;
- Citibank Global Wallet Terms and Conditions; and
- You are giving your explicit consent to Citi's Data Privacy Terms at www.citibank.com.ph/dpa;
- Citibank may use your personal data and other information for automated processing and for automated decision-making in connection with your application and account.
Closing of Foreign Currency Deposit account
Cancelling your enrollment to the facility will not result to the closure of your foreign currency account. In the event where you decide to close your foreign currency account, you agree to provide 7 banking days notice prior to account closure. Withdrawals or debits from a foreign currency account shall be subject to the availability of such foreign currency notes.
In cases wherein there are no available foreign currency notes at the time of request, you may choose any of the following options, subject to Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas regulatory requirements, where applicable
- To disburse the corresponding amount in USD and/or PHP, subject to the current buying and selling FX rates of Citibank;
- Demand draft; or
- Telegraphic transfer.
Discharge of the Bank's Liabilities
Citibank may, at any time, for any cause and at its sole discretion, opt to release itself from any obligation or liability in respect of your account, and accordingly, Citibank may unilaterally close or terminate your account at any time without stating the reason or reasons thereof.
Limitations to the Bank's Liabilities
All obligations hereunder are payable solely at Citibank, N.A., Philippine Branch, subject to the laws of the Philippines (including any governmental actions, orders, decrees and regulations).
