First we gave you the One-Time PIN so you can bank online securely through Citibank Online. Now, we're happy to announce that starting January 20, 2015, you can also get greater security when you shop online with the One-Time Password (OTP).

How a One-Time Password (OTP) works:


When shopping on websites with MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa logos (e.g. Cebu Pacific, Globe Telecom, and Agoda.com), you and your supplementary cardholder will be required to input an OTP.


The OTP will be sent to your or your supplementary cardholder's registered mobile number.


A screen will pop up to ask for the 6-digit OTP after typing in your card details.


Without the One-Time Password, your purchase will not be processed.

What To Do

To get the OTP, call +63 2 995 9999+63 2 995 9999 by
December 30, 2014 and:

1. Update your mobile number.

2. Update your supplementary cardholder's mobile number.

The One-Time Password (OTP) serves as an added layer of security when you shop online. It is a unique six-digit password sent via text message to your mobile number or your supplementary cardholder's mobile number. You will need to input it when you shop at websites with MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa logos.

The OTP will only be sent to your primary mobile number in our system. The same will apply to your supplementary cardholders.

You may call our 24-Hour CitiPhone at 995 9999995 9999 to check if your and your supplementary cardholder's number is updated.

If you're already paying for your purchase, you will also see the last four digits of your mobile number on the One-Time Password pop-up screen.

If your mobile number is not reflected or is not updated, you will need to call our 24-Hour CitiPhone.

No, you will not receive the OTP immediately after. You may start shopping on websites that require the OTP four (4) days after your mobile number has been updated.

While there may be websites that do not require a One-Time Password, secure sites will not process a purchase without the OTP. To avoid inconvenience, we would encourage you to update your mobile number.

Yes, you will still need an OTP. Your OTP will be sent to your registered number with us.

There may be delays in receiving your OTP due to congestion of networks. If you still do not receive your OTP in 20 seconds, you may regenerate it.

Yes, you will still receive your OTP as long as your roaming is enabled.

Yes, you will still receive your OTP as long your international mobile number is updated.

You may be asked to input an OTP on websites like Cebu Pacific, Globe Telecom and Agoda.com. You may also look for these logos to know if a website will require an OTP:

Yes, there are websites that do not require an OTP.

Yes, the OTP is free of charge, except for cases wherein incoming SMS charges are imposed by your telco for international roaming.

For your security, the OTP will be valid for 5 minutes only.

You may attempt to input an OTP up to three (3) times. If, after the third try, the password entered is still incorrect, you will have to key-in your card details again.

No, the One-Time Password is not the same as the One-Time PIN. When logging on to Citibank Online, you will be required to input your One-Time PIN. Meanwhile, when shopping online, you will need a One-Time Password.

No, your security device will only generate an One-Time PIN for your Citibank Online account.
