What is One-Time PIN?

One-Time PIN (OTP) is a unique six-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). It acts as a user authentication tool to protect your online transactions and your log in credentials. OTP gets delivered to your registered primary mobile number* and cannot be re-used as it expires after five minutes.

One-Time PIN via Citi Mobile Banking App generates OTP that you can use for both your online and mobile banking transactions. Simply download on your Apple and Android* device for free and register your mobile device.

How can I start using OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App?

To start using OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App, register your mobile phone using your Citi Mobile Banking Application. Note that you can register one account per device.

Know more about Citibank Online One-Time PIN

One-Time PIN (OTP) is a unique six-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) that is required to access your Citibank account details and fulfill selected online transactions which will allow you to view full information about your account/s. You may get your OTPs via your mobile phone, Citibank Online Security Device (OSD) or Citi Mobile Banking App.

The OTP will only be sent to the primary mobile number in our system. If you wish to change or update your primary mobile number, you may log on to www.citibank.com.ph or call our 24-Hour CitiPhone at 995 9999995 9999 (for Citibank customers) or at 995 1888995 1888 (for Citibank Savings customers).

If your mobile number is in our record, this will be reflected in the OTP screen. If your mobile number is not reflected, this means that your mobile number is not updated in our records. To update your mobile number:

  • Log in to www.citibank.com.ph, click Update links in my Account page and fill up the online contact details change form, or
  • Call our 24-Hour CitiPhone at 995 9999995 9999 (for Citibank customers) or at 995 1888995 1888 (for Citibank Savings customers).

Should you wish to update your mobile number, you can update through the following channels:

  • 24-Hour CitiPhone at 995 9999995 9999 (for Citibank customers)
  • 24-Hour CitiPhone at 995 1888995 1888 (for Citibank Savings customers)
  • Branch through your Account Officer or Relationship Manager

You can still log on to your account, but you need the One-Time PIN to perform transactions such as

  • Viewing of account details and activities
  • Payments and Transfers
  • Registration and activation of Global View of Accounts
  • Update of account password and contact details.

If still unable to receive OTP via SMS, you may opt to use register for OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App or Online Security Device.

For urgent requirements pertaining to transfer of funds between your CitibankChecking/Savings accounts and request to debit from your Citibank Checking/Savings accounts to pay for your Citibank Credit Card, you may also request for assistance via the "Call Me" service. Simply log in to www.citibank.com.ph and go to the Call Me Icon at the right hand menu in your My Home page.

Your OTP will be sent as long as your international mobile number or local mobile number on roaming is enabled to receive text messages when you're abroad.

Yes, the OTP via SMS is free of charge except for cases wherein incoming SMS charges are imposed by your telco for international roaming.

Your OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number on record with us. If the OTP screen reflects a different mobile number, please call our 24 Hour CitiPhone to update.

Yes, the OTP can be generated through your registered mobile number as flash SMS, through an Online Security Device (OSD) or through Citi Mobile Banking App.

Transactions that require the use of an OTP are those that enable you to have full, detailed access to your account profile and information. These include:

  • View account details and activities
  • Payments and Transfers
  • Registration and activation of Global View of Accounts
  • Registration of new Citibank Online account
  • Update of account password and contact details

You only need to enter the OTP once per online session. Once you have entered your OTP, you will be able to make multiple transactions within the same session.

Upon successful update of your mobile number, please allow three (3) business days for your number to be activated to receive OTP.

OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App is a security feature that is available in the Citibank Mobile Banking Application of your Apple and Android smartphones. This service can generate a One-Time PIN that can be used to logon to Citibank Online and Mobile Banking Service.

The OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App service is created as an additional option to generate the One-Time PIN other than via SMS mobile or via the Online Security Device. The One-Time PIN generated is time-based that has a validity of 5 minutes, after which you will need to re-generate. When you log on to the Citibank Online Banking or Mobile Banking application, you are asked for a username and password and are also asked to enter a One-Time PIN generated from any of the devices available i.e. Online Security Device, OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App, or SMS mobile.

OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App is available to existing Citibank Online users who have Apple or Android smartphones and have registered mobile numbers.

If you are an existing Citibank Online user with a registered mobile number:

  • You need to download the Citi Mobile Banking Application from your Apple or Android smartphone.
  • Register for One-Time PIN by clicking on the Register for One-Time PIN icon in the pre-login page of your mobile application.
  • Once registered, you can use your mobile application to Request for One-Time PIN and use it in your Citibank Online Banking or Mobile Banking transactions.

If you are an existing Citibank Online user without a registered mobile number:

  • You need to register your mobile number by updating your contact details in Citibank Online or calling our 24-Hour CitiPhone.
  • Once your mobile number is registered, you need to download the Citi Mobile Banking Application from your Apple or Android smartphones.
  • Register to OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App by clicking on the Register for One-Time PIN icon in the pre-login page of your mobile application.

If you are new to Citibank’s Internet Banking service:

  • You will need to create your Citibank Online username and password in the website: www.citibank.com.ph. Ensure that your mobile number is registered.
  • Download the Citi Mobile Banking Application from your Apple or Android smartphones.
  • Register to OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App by clicking on the Register for One-Time PIN icon in the pre-login page of your mobile application.

No. You can only register your username to one device at a time.

To use OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App in another mobile device, you need to unregister your current device. You can unregister your device by going to the Self Service Functions in the Citibank Mobile Banking application, and click on Unregister. After you have successfully unregistered, you can then proceed to register your other mobile device to OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App.

Yes, OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App will still work if you are in another country.

If you manually change or adjust your time, either 15 minutes ahead of current time of 15 minutes behind the current time, you will need to perform the Resync function in order to sync your adjusted time to the OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App server time.

Once you have activated your OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App, you will start receiving the OTP via the Citi Mobile Banking App. However, you can still use the SMS OTP that will be sent to your registered mobile number with us should you have no access to your OTP via Citi Mobile Banking App. Should you also have an Online Security Device, you may receive the OTP via the OSD.

The Online Security Device is part of the financial industry-wide initiative for an even safer online banking experience. This device has stronger authentication capabilities and provides you an extra layer of security against potential fraudulent activities and threats.

You can only assign one unique Online Security Device per username.

You may avail of the Online Security Device at cost, for Php500. To request for an Online Security Device, you may do the following:

Simply press the Green Generate button at the bottom right of the OSD. A unique 6 digit One-Time PIN will be generated by the device. Enter this One-Time PIN in your Citibank Online screen to proceed with your online transaction.

The New Online Security Device issued to you needs to be registered to your profile.

To register your OSD, simply follow these three steps:

  • Log on to citibank.com.ph and click Online Services > Manage Online Account > Online Security Device Registration
  • Enter your date of birth and Security Device Serial Number
  • Generate the One-Time PIN (OTP) by clicking on the green button of your device. Click Submit.

A confirmation page will be displayed - you may already start using the OSD for your online transactions.

Please call our 24-Hour CitiPhone to report your OSD as lost. A Php*500 replacement for the new OSD applies.

Online Security Device is also applicable to mobile banking. If you login to mobile banking via the Citi Mobile application or by typing www.citibank.com.ph on your mobile browser, you may also input the OTP generated by the Online Security Device.

You or your authorized representative may pick-up the OSD in the Citibank branch near you.

Yes, you can use the One-Time PIN generated by the OSD for your access to Citi Mobile Banking.

An OSD battery life will last between 5–6 years depending on the usage. Once the battery is weak, the token will display "Batt 05" (which means battery will last for 5 weeks), "Batt 04" (which means battery will last for 4 weeks), "Batt 03", "Batt 02" and "Batt 01" before the battery finally dies off. Hence, please request for OSD when necessary.

You only need to press the green button to generate a One-Time Password (OTP). We will inform you about the instructions and procedures when the additional functionalities are available.
